Week 1 — Preschool Sample

God Creates the World

Bible Story: Genesis 1 — God Creates Everything · Key Verse: Genesis 1:1

“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” — Genesis 1:1

🎭 Opening Game (5 min)

Walk through the 7 days: scatter 7 colored cards (orange=sun, blue=water, green=trees) on the floor. Call “Day 1!” — kids jump to the sun card. “Day 2!” — water. Continue through Day 7. Repeat until they can name days in order. Kids love the movement and the challenge of remembering which day is which!

📖 Teaching Outline (15 min)

In the very beginning, there was nothing — no sun, no stars, no trees, no people. But God was there! God spoke and things began to appear. He said “Let there be light” and light came. He made the sky, the land, the flowers, the animals — and finally, He made people! God made you special. Every child you see today was made by God.

💬 Small Group Discussion (10 min)

  • What did God make on Day 1? (Light)
  • What did God make on Day 5? (Birds and sea creatures)
  • What day did God make people? (Day 6)
  • How do you feel knowing God made everything?

🎨 Craft Activity (10 min)

Creation Wheel: Paper plate divided into 7 sections. Kids color or draw each day of creation in a section. Attach a brad so the wheel spins to reveal each day. Materials: paper plates, brass fasteners, crayons, printed template.

🏠 Take-Home Parent Sheet

This week your child learned that God created the whole world — and that includes them! Ask your child: “What is your favorite thing God made?” Take a “creation walk” around your neighborhood and point out things God made together. Close by praying: “Thank you, God, for making everything — and for making me!”
Week 9 — Elementary Sample

David and Goliath

Bible Story: 1 Samuel 17 — Courage Through Faith · Key Verse: 1 Samuel 17:47

“The battle is the Lord’s.” — 1 Samuel 17:47

🎭 Opening Game (5 min)

Giant Knockdown: Set up 6 plastic cups at one end labeled with “fears” (loneliness, new school, being different, worry, failure, not being liked). Kids take turns tossing beanbags at the cups. Talk about how David didn’t use a sword — he used a stone and God’s power. When we trust God, our giants fall down!

📖 Teaching Outline (15 min)

Goliath stood 9 feet 9 inches tall, wore 125 pounds of bronze armor, and carried a javelin the size of a weaver’s beam. For 40 days, he challenged the army of Israel — and no one would fight him. Then David arrived. David was not a soldier — he was a shepherd. But David said something radical: “You come against me with sword and spear, but I come against you in the name of the Lord.” David didn’t trust his sling — he trusted God. And one stone, from a boy’s hand, brought down the giant.

💬 Small Group Discussion (10 min)

  • Why did the Israelite army not fight Goliath? What does that tell us about fear vs. faith?
  • David said “the battle is the Lord’s” — what does that mean about who gets credit for the victory?
  • Goliath trusted his sword and spear. David trusted God. What are the modern equivalents of swords and spears in your life?
  • How does knowing God is on your side change the way you face things that feel giant?

🎨 Craft Activity (10 min)

Shield of Faith: Decorate a cardboard shield with the key verse and symbols of things God protects us from. Add a small smooth stone to the center as a reminder of how God works through simple things. Materials: cardboard, aluminum foil, markers, stickers.

🏠 Take-Home Parent Sheet

This week your child learned about David and Goliath — and how courage comes from trusting God, not from being the biggest or strongest. Ask: “What are some 'giants' (big problems or fears) in your life right now?” Remind them that David said “The battle is the Lord’s” — we don’t fight alone. Pray together about one specific fear or challenge your family is facing.
